Denzil Shirley

	Denzil Shirley, 94, of Elkville, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
	Denzil was a retired farmer.  He was a member of Elkville Baptist Church and had been a deacon at the church for 25 years.
	He was born June 23, 1907 at DeSoto, the son of Robert A. and Louisa (Farner) Shirley.  He was first married to Helen Correl and she preceded him in death.  He then married Pearl G. Fann on December 27, 1931 at Murphysboro.  She preceded him in death on December 15, 1999.
	He is survived by a daughter, Edith H. Rosenberger of Canton; a son, Harold L. Shirley of De Soto; five grandchildren, Marc Rosenberger of Canton, Stan Rosenberger of Indianapolis, Ind., Brad Rosenberger of Forrestville, Calif., Ryan Shirley of Herrin and Cindy Collins of Hurst; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Halleran of Hurst, Ryan Rosenberger of Canton and Nathan Rosenberger of Canton.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; son, Johnnie Edward Shirley; five brothers and two sisters.
	Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24 at the Elkville Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Cremeens officiating.
	Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin and from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
	Interment was in Elkville Cemetery.
